1. What to scan, and how often
   Scanning more often is not scanning better. Your frequency should match the rate at which the things you actually know something about update, and for almost everyone that is weekly, not hourly.
2. Choosing tools without dating the course
   This lesson will not name a single tool, on purpose. Tools change every few months and any list printed here would be wrong before you read it. What does not change is the set of questions worth asking before you adopt one.
3. The weekly review loop
   One written session a week, on the same day, scoring calibration rather than profit, changing at most one rule. That is the entire system, and it is the difference between a process that compounds and forty weeks of unconnected decisions.
4. Automate or not: the written test
   Automate observation. Do not automate decisions. The dividing line is whether you can state the rule with no adjectives in it, and almost nothing a beginner wants to automate survives that test.
